I totally disagree with it. I don't know many/any lil children that don't try to hide it when they do something 'bad'
And the 'proof' given FOR the statement actually works against itself since suicide bombers have to be brainwashed for years in a cult like setting to do what they do.
When he said that..I never really thought about it...
I think that if you go more complex into the nitty gritty there really isn't an internal gage...like I believe drinking is wrong..especially for Christians...but other's don't believe that...
So which one is right and which on is wrong? My "internal meter" says it's wrong...are the other people suppressing it?
This is a tough one, but having a one year old I'm close to the beginning of a persons life and I have to tell ya, knowing that something is wrong or bad is a learned response. My son would destroy and hit to his hearts content if I didn't stop him and so say No. And he's learning quickly. You can actually see him reach for something and than shake his head and look at me. I want to beleive that there's a internal gag, but watching McKinney could prove me wrong. Ps. Hi Audrey!
I think we have internal gauges, but the length of the 'right vs wrong' list is much shorter than what you'd expect. I also think we are highly social creatures and those internal gauges can be recalibrated.
Excellent point about the brainwashing it takes to train suicide bombers, Matthew.
Yep. I think I agree with most of you. I think that there's something there, although imperfect and incomplete, at birth. It is developed/shaped/nurtured/stunted/perverted as we age. I recently heard the statement which I then posted. I felt an immediate sense of disagreement, but needed to think on why & how I disagreed.
