If you know me well, you know I love my car...

...and that is why the events of the evening are a little heart-breaking.

Mom is in town for the next few days and so we were out for a bit just after suppertime. On our way home, we were approaching the traffic circle onto the causeway. I was inching out to get onto the circle, but the traffic was coming too fast, so I waited. The gal behind me thought I'd gone and next thing you know...BANG.

This was the order of my thoughts within the next 0.7 seconds (It takes much longer to read it than it does to think it!):

1. What the...

2. Rear-ended...phew...it's not my fault!

3. Is mom okay?

4. I'm okay.

5. Let's get out of the way of the rest of traffic.

6. Friggin' eh! I LOVE my car!!!

So...we're okay. Bit of a headache. A little bit sore in the shoulder, probably worse tomorrow, but on the whole, fine. I feel bad for the other girl because I know she feels really really bad.

The diagnosis for my car? To be determined. Tomorrow I deal with insurance and such. At first glance, one wouldn't think it would be a write off, but when you look more closely at how much paneling is damaged, it's questionable. We'll see. I really really really hope it's not.

This is the most heart-broken I've been over a material item. :-(

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOANNA JOY HANSON!!!

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

most likely my only post for november

Before articulating several random tidbits, let me preface by the fact that my choice to eventually post is not in any way coerced by the bullying attempts of Joanna. I must say, the threat to remove from her linkage is both empty (as I'm quite certain my handful of readers do not link here from her list) and starkly contrasted by the gracious policy employed by Mr. 94, who only deletes after a full calendar year of non-postage.

1. Work is going well. I've had my first one-on-one sessions with each of my supervisors (2). I've made my first big mistake. I've had my first pervert call. I've had my first "let me talk to your supervisor" call. I'm less than a week away from my the end of my new hire probation period. It should be smooth sailing from here.

2. Night shift...slowly getting better, but still brutal at times. Most weeks I have one or two days functioning on 2-3 hours sleep. I'm hoping that come January, my shift will be earlier or my sleep will be that much more adjusted.

3. Apartment...every week I'm feeling more settled into my new space. Family & friends have been generous, and bargains seem to have been plentiful, so my wishlist for household items is dwindling. Still need to get a few areas organized, and I have little to nothing on the walls for decor. Yet.

4. Currently reading The Hiding Place, for the second or third time. I think Amsterdam is on my short list of places I most want to visit.

5. When it's slow at work and I don't feel like reading, sometimes I surf and I've been looking at various pysanky pics. Thinking I'd like to take it up again.

6. I'm on vacation! Booked two vacation days this week, so I'm off the next four days and heading to NS to help the rents look for some accommodations and visit with Gram. Should be a good time.

C'est tout pour maintenant. :)
